The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 13 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection for 26 June.
5 out of the 13 cases are linked to previous cases and have already been quarantined.
The remaining 8 cases were detected through surveillance, with 4 linked to previous cases and 4 currently unlinked.
Unlinked COVID-19 Cases Reported on 26 June Include a Navy Serviceman
Through surveillance, 4 new unlinked cases have been detected, including a navy serviceman. Here are the details:
- A 27-year-old, fully-vaccinated male serviceman in the Singapore Navy who was a close contact to a positive case and was quarantined from 10 June to 22 June. However, he developed a fever on 24 June and was tested positive for COVID-19 on the same day.
- A 32-year-old female Singaporean who works as an administrative staff at Walt Disney. Despite developing a fever, cough and body aches on 16 June, she was only confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on 25 June.
- A 21-year-old female Singaporean nurse who works at Changi General Hospital. As a part of Rostered Routine Testing (RRT), she was tested on 23 June, but she developed symptoms on 24 June and received a positive COVID-19 test result on 25 June.
- A 76-year-old female Singaporean retiree who is asymptomatic and was only detected as she was seeking medical treatment at Singapore General Hospital for an unrelated condition on 25 June.
Police Officer Among New Cases in the 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre Cluster
A 28-year-old female police officer who is deployed at the Bukit Merah West Neighbourhood Police Centre (500 Bukit Merah View) is among the 2 new cases added to the 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre Cluster.
She developed a runny nose on 25 June and sought treatment at a GP clinic.
A COVID-19 test was conducted and she was tested positive the same day.
She was fully vaccinated and has last worked on 22 June.
The other case involved a 31-year-old female Singaporean who works as a waitress at Cheflix Restaurant.
As a close contact and a casual contact of two separate previous cases, she was placed under both phone surveillance and quarantine on 17 June.
She eventually developed a cough, fever and subsequently lost her sense of smell by 25 June, but she didn’t report her symptoms.
However, she was detected as COVID-19 positive when she was tested on 25 June.
Her last punch-in at work was on 13 May.
4 Imported Cases
All 4 imported cases were tested and detected while serving their SHNs.
They include a Singaporean, 2 Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from India and the UK, and a Short-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from Saudi Arabia.
313 Active Cases with 1 New Fatality
There are currently 143 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 4 is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
170 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
A single death due to COVID-19 has been reported by the ministry, bringing the total death count to 36.
The deceased was an unvaccinated 84-year-old female Singaporean from Bukit Merah View.
She was tested positive on 15 June and has a history of cancer, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia.
The National Centre for Infectious Diseases has contacted her family and is offering assistance.
