451 New Covid-19 Cases Reported Today (10 Jun); 7 Cases In The Community

As of 10 June, 12pm, 451 new Covid-19 cases are reported.

7 are cases in the community: 3 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents and 4 work pass holders.

The remaining numbers are made up of foreign workers in dormitories.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore to 38,965.

It seems like our brief respite of lower numbers might be coming to an end although you shouldn’t panic yet since the situation is completely under control as the multi-ministry task force said.

5 Businesses & 53 People Fined During Phase One, Including Those That Don’t Allow WFH When They Can

Just because it’s no longer Circuit Breaker doesn’t mean you can now relax and flout the rules.

The authorities are still working hard going around to make sure that we don’t breach safe distancing measures.

In a media release by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG), they said that they have conducted inspections on many workplaces, including malls and tourism establishments.

In total, they had issued 58 fines.

5 to businesses who have breached workplace safety measures, including calling employees to work in the office even though they could’ve worked from home.

Another 53 individuals were given the composition fine of $300 for:

  • not wearing masks
  • breaching the ban on gathering
  • leaving their place of residence for non-essential purposes.

Another 10 workplaces are told to improve their work safety measures..

Minister Lawrence Wong, the face of the battle against Covid-19, explains why Singapore must still be careful when reopening the economy.

He said that for every symptomatic Covid-19 patient, there is an asymptomatic Covid-19 case out there.

And because there is a risk of asymptomatic transmission, no matter what WHO says, we still have to keep our masks on and avoid meeting with friends for the time being.

Human Trials Starting Next Week

On another (very good) news, Singapore is going to start testing a potential Covid-19 treatment on 23 healthy people next week.

The trial’s goal is to test the safety and effectiveness of TY027, a monoclonal antibody or immune system protein that specifically targets Sars-COV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.
