Well, it was good while it lasted.
For the past two days, Singapore has reported double-digit new daily cases, but today, we’ve returned to the usual 3-digit.
As of 12pm on 13 Aug 2020, Singapore preliminarily reports 102 new Covid-19 cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 55,497.
There are 5 cases in the community, including 1 permanent resident and 4 work pass holders.
There are also 6 imported cases, all of whom were on Stay-Home-Notices (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.
Migrant workers living in dormitories make up a vast majority of the cases.
More Details On Cases On 12 Aug 2020
On 12 Aug 2020, Singapore reported 42 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest in more than 4 months.
The single case in the community is a 58-year-old Singaporean who was a contact of a previously confirmed case and was already on quarantine.
There were also 11 imported cases.
- 2 Singaporeans
- 3 Work Pass Holders
- 1 Work Permit Holder
- 1 Special Pass Holder
- 4 Dependant’s Pass Holder
One of the two Singaporeans is an eight-year-old boy who returned to Singapore from India on 3 July. The other returned from Indonesia on 30 July.
The special pass holder is a Filipino seaman (read: sailor) who arrived in Singapore from India on a vessel on 8 Aug.
He reported symptoms and was tested for Covid-19 onboard; thereafter, he was brought to the hospital via the ambulance.
The four dependant’s pass holders came from India on 28 and 31 July.
The four work pass and work permit holders arrived in Singapore separately from the Philippines on 29 July and India on 31 July.
All imported cases were placed on Stay-Home-Notices (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore and were detected during this period.
New Places Added To MOH’s List Of Places Where Covid-19 Cases Visited
Five more places were included in MOH’s list of places where Covid-19 patients visited during their infectious:
- Is Salon in Bukit Batok
- Warren Golf & Country Club
- HomeTeamNS Khatib (Yes, the place with the counter-strike arena)
- Chong Pang Wet Market & Food Centre
- Northpoint City
You can find the full list here.
All close contacts have been notified, MOH says, and you do not need to avoid these places.
For those who have gone to the area during the same timeframe as the Covid-19 cases, do monitor your own health for the next 14 days carefully.
If you’re worried about the increase back to 3-digit new cases, don’t be because MOH has told people in Singapore to be prepared for higher case reporting in the coming days.
Why? Because there are foreign workers still on quarantine.
They will be tested at the end of their quarantine period and MOH expects more cases to pop up during the testing.
