34 COVID-19 Cases Today (16 Apr); 2 are Community Cases

It’s been exactly 1 year since we’re required to wear masks but there are still community cases in the wild.

As of 12pm today (16 Apr), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 34 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

There are 2 community cases.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 60,769.

Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at 2 cases per week in the past 2 weeks. The number of unlinked cases in the community has decreased from 2 cases in the week before to 1 case in the past week.

MOH Clarified That 81-YO Man Who Died After Getting COVID-19 Vaccine Wasn’t Due to Vaccine Complications

Instead, the cause of the 81-year-old man’s death was ischaemic heart disease, and not COVID-19 vaccination complications, the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed on Thursday (15 Apr).

The Health Sciences Authority’s (HSA) Forensic Medicine Division concluded that there was “no evidence of acute anaphylaxis or an allergic reaction at the injection site of the COVID-19 vaccine” post-mortem.

What they found instead was an “extensive narrowing” of the three main blood vessels supplying blood to the muscles of the man’s heart.

This was caused by atherosclerosis, a disease in which plaque builds up inside your arteries, hardening and narrowing arteries over time which obstructs blood flow.

This led to ischaemic heart disease, which occurs when there’s inadequate blood flow to the heart muscles.
