In less than half a month, we would be in 2021, and it appears that we’re going to end 2020 well.

As of 12pm today (16  December 2020), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

All of them are imported cases.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 58,353.

Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with no new cases in the past week.

Dorm Case Reported Yesterday is Likely a Past Infection

The only local case reported yesterday, a dorm case, was detected when he took a COVID-19 pre-departure test in preparation for his return to China. His previous tests from Rostered Routine Testing (RRT) had been negative.

His serological test result has come back positive, which indicates likely past infection. As a precautionary measure, all his close contacts at the dormitory and his workplace have been placed on quarantine.

There are currently 25 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit.

54 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
