As of 12pm on 19 Aug 2020, the Ministry of Health preliminarily reported 93 new Covid-19 cases.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore to 56,031.
There are two cases in the community, both work pass holders and six imported cases who were placed on SHN the moment they arrived in Singapore.
The remaining cases are made up of foreign workers living in dormitories.
Details On 18 Aug Cases
The sole community case reported yesterday was detected during the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) screening of all staff working at bus depots and interchanges.
The 39-year-old Singaporean, who is a staff at the bus depot, is an asymptomatic case (meaning he has little or no symptoms) and his role doesn’t involve interacting with members of the public or bus drivers.
Between 23 July and 15 Aug 2020, more than 14,800 staff and close contacts have been swabbed, MOH added.
Two Imported Cases
The two imported cases are a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) and a dependant’s pass holder.
The PR, a 32-year-old woman returned to Singapore on 6 Aug 2020 while the dependant’s pass holder, a 30-year-old woman, had returned on 10 Aug.
Both had returned from India.
MOH revealed that both imported cases were placed on Stay-Home-Notice upon their arrival in Singapore.
Overall, the average number of community cases and unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at two and one per day respectively.
A total of 88 Covid-19 patients are still hospitalised with 3,290 resting in community care facilities.
There are no patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
New Entries Added To MOH’s List
MOH has a list of places where Covid-19 patients visited during their infectious period and on 18 Aug 2020, there were new entries to the list.
This includes:
- Kallang Wave Mall
- Seoul Garden at Bugis Junction
- McDonald’s outlet at Bukit Batok Central
- Wan Shun Foodcourt at 888 Plaza
- SBCD Korean Tofu House at Guoco Tower
You can check out the full list here.
Close contacts have already been notified and the express purpose of this list is for people who might have been there during the same time period.
If you were there, remember to monitor your health for the next 14 days and see a doctor immediately if you show even the slightest symptoms.
You don’t have to avoid the place as NEA would’ve engaged with the locations’ operators to do a thorough cleaning and disinfection.
