Today is, unfortunately, not a good day.
As of 12pm today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 5 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
4 of them are imported, and 1 is a community case.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 58,195.
Before today, Singapore has gone through 15 days without any locally transmitted infection.
Testing for Stallholders In and Around Tekka Centre
As we gradually reopen our economy and resume social activities, the government has been testing more extensively in the community to facilitate early detection and to obtain a better picture of population prevalence.
So far, Singapore have conducted such surveillance testing for taxi/private hire car drivers, food delivery personnel and cashiers.
As part of the progressive rollout of community surveillance testing, MOH will extend testing for stallholders in and around Tekka Centre, which is conducted near Little India MRT station today.
There are currently 42 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 1 is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
29 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
28 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
