As of 12pm on 5 Sep 2020, the Ministry of Health (MOH) preliminarily reported 34 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore.
Which is great because we’re all getting sick of the big 4.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 56,982.
There are 3 cases in the community, one Singaporean and two work pass holders, and two imported cases.
Both imported cases have been placed on Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.
Yet Another New Dorm Cluster Reported
On 4 Sep 2020, 40 new Covid-19 cases were reported. No community cases were reported yesterday.
Three of the cases were imported cases who had returned from India while the other 97 were migrant workers staying in dormitories.
Yesterday, there were 8 clusters in total:
- Sungei Tengah Lodge
- Homestay Lodge
- Tuas View Dormitory
- Changi Lodge II
- North Coast Lodge
- Toh Guan Dormitory
- Westlite Toh Guan
- Cochrane Lodge II
Today, the total number of clusters have been brought up to nine.
According to the Ministry of Health, 33 Covid-19 cases were found linked to a new cluster at Blue Stars Dormitory.
Previously, it was mentioned that Covid-19 cases (for migrant workers living in dormitories) were detected through the bi-weekly Rostered Routine Testing (RRT), were contacts of previously confirmed cases or were swabbed when they went to see the doctor for ARI.
Orchard Road Malls Identified As Places Visited By Infectious Covid-19 Cases
On 4 Sep 2020, MOH has also added several entries into their list of places visited by Covid-19.
They include several malls in the Orchard Road area as well as Jewel Changi Airport and neighbourhood malls, among many others.
Here’s the full list of new additions below:
The list identifies locations visited by Covid-19 patients during their infectious period. Visits are at least 30 minutes long and are restricted to public places; public transport, residence, the workplace and medical institutions are not added to the list.
If you realised you’ve been there during the same period, don’t panic and monitor your health for the next 14 days.
See a doctor immediately if you suspect you have any symptoms.
You also do not need to avoid the locations as the National Environment Agency (NEA) will work together with the management in the area to thoroughly clean the place.
Community Cases On The Rise
According to MOH, the average number of Covid-19 cases in the community has risen to 3 per day in the past week, compared to 2 a day the week before.
Unlinked cases, too, have increased from an average of 1 per day from the week before to 2 per day over the past week.
In other words, the new norm which we finally managed to crawl our way to is suddenly on shaky ground again.
So if you’ve not been doing so, it might be time to start following the rules closely instead of trying to test the system like these guys.
