Despite the bad news yesterday, it seems like we’re getting a break today because, for the first time since forever, we’re only reporting the low-twenties for new cases today.
As of 12pm on 7 Sep 2020, the Ministry of Health (MOH) preliminarily reported 22 new Covid-19 cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 57,044.
Based on investigations so far, there’s only 1 case in the community, a work pass holder.
There are 3 imported cases, all of whom were placed on Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.
By the way, according to MOH’s daily updates, the last time we had a figure in the low twenties was on 22 Mar (23 new Covid-19 cases). It exploded pretty much since.
Case Details For 6 Sep 2020
Yesterday (6 Sep), 40 Covid-19 cases were reported.
The figure consists of 4 cases in the community, 13 imported cases and 23 migrant workers living in dormitories.
Imported Cases
Among the 13 imported cases, 4 Singaporeans and 2 PRs returned to Singapore from India between 24 and 26 Aug, and the Philippines on 25 Aug.
Another 6 imported cases are work pass/work permit holders who reached Singapore from India on 25 Aug, Indonesia on 24 and 25 Aug, and the Philippines on 23 and 25 Aug.
The remaining case is a Student’s Pass holder who arrived from India on 25 Aug.
All of the imported cases were served with Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore and tested positive during their stay.
Cases In The Community
The 4 cases in the community are made up of 1 work pass holder and 3 work permit holders.
All of them are asymptomatic cases and were detected through proactive testing.
Two of the community cases are linked to previous cases or clusters while the remaining two are unlinked.
They were detected through the bi-weekly Rostered Routine Testing.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has dropped from an average of 3 cases per day the week before to 2 per day over the past week.
The number of unlinked cases, however, has increased from an average of 1 per day to 2 per day.
Migrant Workers Living In Dormitories
Five of the 23 migrant worker cases reported yesterday has been identified as contacts of previous cases and were already on quarantine.
The remaining 18 were picked up through MOH’s bi-weekly Routine Rostered Testing (RRT) of workers living in dormitories.
At least one of the cases detected is likely to be a past infection because his serological tests returned positive.
