All of a sudden, daily cases of fewer than 30 infections sound like good news.
As of 12pm today (19 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 32 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
29 of them are community cases, and 13 of them are unlinked.
Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 448 cases in the week before to 316 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 125 cases in the week before to 94 cases in the past week.
The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 31.7 and 13.4 respectively.
64YO Man Dies From COVID-19 Complications
A 64-year died from COVID-19 complications on Monday (16 Aug), becoming Singapore’s ninth fatality this month.
On 2 Aug, the man developed a cough and was taken to Raffles Hospital after suffering from heart problems.
He ended up succumbing to the disease around two weeks later.
The man had a history of End-stage renal failure, ischaemic cardiomyopathy, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. He was not vaccinated against COVID-19.
46 COVID-19 patients in Singapore have now died from the virus.
402 Cases in Hospitals; 8,486,232Â COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered
402 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 26 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 6 in critical condition in the ICU.
Of those who have fallen very ill, 27 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 22 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
As of yesterday, there are currently 87 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,155 infections.
As of 17 August 2021, we have administered a total of 8,486,232 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna), covering 4,447,250 individuals, with 4,170,573 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 153,020 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of 17 August 2021, covering 84,172 individuals.
In total, 77% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 82% has received at least one dose.
