35 COVID-19 Cases Today (22 Aug); 29 Are Community Cases With 17 of Them Unlinked

The number of COVID-19 cases in Singapore might be dropping, but the percentage of unlinked cases is increasing.

As of 12pm today (22 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 35 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

29 of them are community cases, and 17 of them are unlinked.

Among the cases is one senior aged above 70 who is partially vaccinated and at risk of serious illness.

Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 377 cases in the week before to 260 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 98 cases in the week before to 87 cases in the past week.

The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 24.7 and 12.4 respectively.

Sole New Cluster on 21 Aug is Linked to an Individual

One new COVID-19 cluster was reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) yesterday, linked to an individual case.

Named after Case 68646, the cluster has four infections. MOH didn’t provide any further specifics.

Two clusters were also closed.

Our biggest cluster is still the one linked to Jurong Fishery Port/ Hong Lim Market & Food Centre, which hasn’t had any new infections for a significant period of time.

364 Cases in Hospitals; 8,553,434 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

364 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 22 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 7 in critical condition in the ICU.

Of those who have fallen very ill, 23 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 18 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

As of yesterday, there are currently 76 clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,155 infections.

As of 20 August 2021, we have administered a total of 8,553,434 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna), covering 4,467,533 individuals, with 4,218,703 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 156,114 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of 20 August 2021, covering 84,345 individuals.

In total, 78% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 82% has received at least one dose.
