98 COVID-19 Cases Today (23 Aug); 94 Are Locally Transmitted Cases With 59 Of Them Linked to a Dorm

When the daily report came so late, you can bet that something out of the ordinary might’ve happened.

And indeed it has.

As of 12pm today (23 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 98 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

94 are locally transmitted cases, 19 are currently unlinked.

And 59 of them are linked to North Coast Lodge, a dormitory located in Woodlands.

Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 354 cases in the week before to 240 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 92 cases in the week before to 93 cases in the past week.

The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 21.0 and 13.3 respectively.

346 Cases in Hospitals; 8,575,608 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

346 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 22 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 7 in critical condition in the ICU.

Of those who have fallen very ill, 23 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 18 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

As of yesterday, there are currently 72 clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,155 infections.

As of 21 August 2021, we have administered a total of 8,575,608 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna), covering 4,475,214 individuals, with 4,232,803 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 159,204 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of 21 August 2021, covering 84,530 individuals.

In total, 78% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 82% has received at least one dose.
