Another day, another two-digit daily cases.
As of 12pm today (6 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 97 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
93 of them are community cases.
Of the community cases, 29 are currently unlinked. Amongst the cases, 1 is a senior above 70 who is unvaccinated and is at risk of serious illness.
Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 881 cases in the week before to 723 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 223 cases in the week before to 228 cases in the past week.
The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 70.7 and 32.6 respectively.
79YO Man Dies From COVID-19 Complications; Singapore’s 40th COVID-19 Fatality
A 79-year-old man has become Singapore’s COVID-19 40th fatality after he died of complications from the disease.
The man sought treatment on Wednesday (4 Aug) at Sengkang General Hospital for shortness of breath and low blood pressure and was later confirmed to have COVID-19.
Unfortunately, he died later that day.
The man had a history of heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and hypertension.
He was not vaccinated.
This is the third COVID-19 death in just four days.
577 Cases in Hospitals; 7,831,520 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered
577 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 40 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 8 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU). 7 amongst these 48 cases are fully vaccinated. Of these, 5 require oxygen supplementation while 2 require ICU care as they have underlying medical conditions.
36 seniors above 60 years, of whom 31 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill.
As of yesterday, there are currently 122 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,127 infections.
As of 4 August 2021, 65% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 78% has received at least one dose. In total, we have administered a total of 7,831,520 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,337,397 individuals, with 3,618,488 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 115,970 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered as of 4 August 2021, covering 77,095 individuals.
