Singapore might have achieved its vaccination goal before National Day, and the number of infections has dropped, too.
As of 12pm today (8 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 78 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
73 of them are community cases.
21 of the community cases are currently unlinked. Amongst all the cases, 5 are seniors above 70 who are unvaccinated and are at risk of serious illness.
Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 868 cases in the week before to 611 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 256 cases in the week before to 170 cases in the past week.
The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 63.0 and 24.3 respectively.
S’pore Reports 42nd COVID-19 Death, an Unvaccinated 80YO Woman
We’ve added one more to our COVID-19 death tally with the passing of an 80-year-old female Singaporean, bringing up the total deaths caused by COVID-19 to 42.
After developing symptoms on 21 July 2021 and testing positive for the virus, she was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital two days later.
She was unvaccinated and had a history of diabetes, hypertension and atrial fibrillation.
529 Cases in Hospitals; 7,971,889 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered
529 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 38 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 4 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU). 5 amongst these 42 cases are fully vaccinated. Of these, 4 require oxygen supplementation while 1 requires ICU care as they have underlying medical conditions.
33 seniors above 60 years, of whom 29 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill.
As of yesterday, there are currently 128 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,143 infections.
As of 6 August 2021, 68% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 79% has received at least one dose. In total, we have administered a total of 7,971,889 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,351,541 individuals, with 3,744,802 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 129,787 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered as of 6 August 2021, covering 81,555 individuals.
