11 COVID-19 Cases Today (20 Jun); 9 are Community Cases with 5 Unlinked

Happy Father’s day! Although we can’t celebrate Father’s Day at our favourite restaurant, we can always have a belated Father’s Day celebration tomorrow (21 Jun) instead. Do remember, dine-ins are only limited to 2 people only and today’s report will tell you why.

As of 12pm today (20 Jun), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

9 of them are community cases, with 5 currently unlinked. The remaining two are imported cases.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 62,414.

Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 32 cases in the week before to 109 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 14 cases in the week before to 18 cases in the past week.

3 out of 4 Unlinked Cases Was Detected from Special Ops Testing in Bukit Merah

Thanks to community surveillance testing, 3 unlinked cases were detected in the Bukit Merah area.

They are:

  • A fully-vaccinated 46-year-old female Singaporean homemaker who has a fever and runny nose on 16 June.
  • An 86-year-old female Singaporean retiree who is asymptomatic.
  • A fully-vaccinated 44-year-old female Indonesian domestic worker developed a cough on the same day she received her COVID-19 results.

The other unlinked case involves a 31-year-old female Vietnamese who works as a pastry maker at Bakery Point at 920 Tiong Bahru Road.

She is asymptomatic when detected as part of the community surveillance testing effort for visitors to 86 Redhill Close.

346 Active Cases

There are currently 153 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 1 is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

193 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

34 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
