After weeks of being too scary to look at, the number of community cases is now approaching a figure which our hearts can handle. We’re now in the last week of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), and the tightened measures are certainly working.
That doesn’t mean we should go out and party anytime soon and today’s report will tell you why.
As of 12pm today (7 Jun), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 14 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
5 are community cases, of which all are linked to previous cases.
The remaining 9 are imported cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 62,210.
Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 136 cases in the week before to 116 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 23 cases in the week before to 17 cases in the past week.
Sole Unlinked COVID-19 Case on 6 June is a Student from Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School
The only case with no established links is a 13-year-old Singaporean.
She is a student at Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School and was last in school on 18 May.
The young teenager developed anosmia on 29 May but did not seek medical treatment until 4 June when she visited a GP clinic.
She was tested for COVID-19 and her test result came back positive the next day. Her serology test result is pending.

528 Active Cases
There are currently 207 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 2 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
321 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
33 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
