24 COVID-19 Cases Today (27 May); 14 are Community Case & 1 is a Dorm Case

The short break yesterday was something we all needed in these tremulous times. Unfortunately for us, COVID-19 doesnโ€™t take any breaks.

As of 12pm today (27 May), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 24 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

14 of them are community cases. Out of the community cases, 3 are unlinked.

1 is a dorm case.

The remaining 9 are imported cases.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 61,940.

Based on yesterdayโ€™s figures, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 187 cases in the week before to 165 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 40 cases in the week before to 30 cases in the past week.

Unlinked Cases Reported Include a McDonaldโ€™s Staff Member in Woodlands

The three cases with no known links include a man who works at McDonaldโ€™s outlet at The Woodgrove.

The 24-year-old Malaysian developed a runny nose on 24 May and sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on the same day.

His test result came back positive two days later, and his serology test result is pending.

In addition, two other community cases reported yesterday were unlinked. They are:

  •  a 58-year-old female Singaporean who works at Chevyโ€™s Bar and Bistro
  • a 38-year-old male Malaysia national who works at Rong Chang F&B Services Pte Ltd

524 Active Cases

There are currently 242 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 2 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

282 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

32 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
