Whelp, if you’ve been hoping for the number of cases to drop and prove MTF’s latest measures wrong, you’ll be disappointed.

Fun fact: the numbers have been increasing steadily since September started.

As of 12pm today (8 Sep), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 349 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

347 of them are community infections, and the number of linked and unlinked cases were not provided.

The remaining 2 are imported cases. They developed the illness while serving their Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) or in isolation.

Amongst the cases, three are seniors above 70 who is unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and is at risk of serious illness.

Based on the numbers yesterday, a total of 1,489 new community cases were reported in the past week. This is more than double the 771 cases detected in the week before.

Similarly, the number of new unlinked cases has also shot up from 184 cases in the week before to 677 in the past week.

Months later, a study has revealed that touching fruits and vegetables may have contributed to the spread of the virus in the cluster.

643 Cases in Hospitals; 6 in ICU

There are 643 COVID-19 cases in the hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.

24 severe cases require oxygen supplementation and six are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Of these 30 cases, 22 are patients above the age of 60. 14 of them are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Currently, 81% of the population has been fully vaccinated, while 83% have received at least one dose.
