The announcement that land borders have officially fully opened between Malaysia and Singapore left everyone pretty much euphoric.
Friends and family can finally reunite with each other after two (or more) long, long years, without the need for Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL), or PCR tests stuck way too hard and way too high up your nose.
For this man, however, the joy was so overwhelming, he had to do something.
In a dimly-lit Tiktok video posted by his wife, he is shown prostrating in the middle of a split intersection on a road in Johor for a full minute.
@faiqahroslyy Tears of joyness, Alhamdulilah ya allah! Syukur alhamdulilah! #kenanganindah @pis_1930 ♬ Syukur Alhamdulillah – Wafiq Azizah
In the video, he sobs with joy and bows to the ground repeatedly while cars drive past him.
He then stands up and thanks God to the camera tearfully, clearly overjoyed to finally be home again.
According to Berita Harian, a Malay language newspaper, the man had not been able to return home from Singapore to Malaysia since the 18 March 2020, marking 2 years and 2 weeks since he last saw his loved ones.
So his reaction, though seemingly over-the-top, makes a lot of sense.

Netizens Respond
Netizens are sharing in his happiness, with many of them empathising with the man on how good it feels to finally return home to their family now that it is so much easier to do so.
A few shared how they were waiting for their turn to return home too, and felt the same emotions.
One pointed out how the borders reopening came just in time for Ramadan and Hari Raya, and how it would be an especially merry and meaningful celebration this year with families all together.
