Cute Kitten Quacks Like A Duck Because He Hasn’t Figured out How To Meow Yet

Dogs bark and cats meow. That fact is as certain as the rising and setting of the Sun.

Or is it?

Yes, it is. But in a land of traditionalist cats, one bohemian kitten refuses to conform to its biological instincts.

No one is purr-fect

A kitten in Texas is making the whole internet go “Aww” because of his imperfect meow.

In a viral video, ‘Melvin’ is seen pawing at a crate at the Palm Valley Animal Center in Edinburg, Texas.

He also meows at the volunteers outside his crate, hoping they’d let him out. But, amusingly, the kitten hasn’t quite figured out how to meow yet.

So it quacks instead.

Poor Melvin. His cat friends probably played a little prank on him.

Melvin: So how do you guys ask your mother for food?

Cats: *giggling* Oh, you, uh… quack. 

Melvin: I thought that’s what ducks do.

Cats: It’s 2019, dude.

Melvin: What does that even mean?

Cats: JUST QUACK, MAN. 

Melvin Goes Viral

The cute video was shared by one of the centre’s volunteers, Sarah, who said she “heard a very unique meow when we entered the room, and followed it to this surprising source’.

Sarah was doing community service with Clear The Shelters, an initiative that helps rescue animals from shelters when she spotted the quacking kitten.

The quack might have even helped Melvin stand out from the litter. If there’s one thing that’s going to get your attention at an animal shelter, it’s a quacking kitten.

And it seems to have worked.

One couple fell in love with Melvin’s quack and adopted him last week.
