A 42-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound while cycling in a restricted forested area of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
The Singapore Police Force was alerted by the National University Hospital at 11:55pm on 15 Jun that a man had been admitted with a gunshot wound.
The bullet slug was lodged in the man’s left lower back. His friends brought him to the National University Hospital after the incident occurred at around 11:40am.

The man underwent surgery to remove the bullet slug and remains in stable condition. The injury is not life-threatening.
SAF Live-Firing Exercise Conducted 2.3km Away from Incident Site
The Singapore Armed Forces was conducting an authorised live-firing exercise at its Nee Soon 500m Range during the time of the incident. The range is located approximately 2.3km away from where the man was cycling.
The man had been cycling with his friends in a forested area between Upper Seletar Reservoir and Upper Peirce Reservoir. This particular area was gazetted for SAF live-firing activities.
Live-firing activities at the Nee Soon 500m Range have been suspended as a precautionary measure following the incident.
Restricted Area Had Warning Signs Against Unauthorised Entry
The forested area where the incident occurred is not open to the public. Warning signs are posted in the area to alert people against unauthorised entry.
Under the Military Manoeuvres Act, unauthorised individuals are prohibited from entering gazetted areas designated for SAF live-firing.
The Ministry of Defence and SAF are working closely with the police and other relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Police investigations are ongoing and no foul play is suspected at this time.
