Last year, local indie designer WHENIWASFOUR came out with this and everyone went crazy.
I mean, it’s a bag that looks so much better that those brands that start with C or L or G.
And the best part? There’s no straw, so they’re saving the environment!
But unfortunately, as of now, I’ve not seen anyone carrying this around, so suffice to say it hasn’t gone mainstream. Then again, that’s what makes it unique: the scarcity.
And it seems like another business is going this direction, this time a neighbour of ours.
BMYTA
In case you’re not aware, buying and selling on Facebook is big in Malaysia.
There are people who do this full-time, selling their products merely through Facebook. Usually, they’ll publicize their products via Facebook groups (primarily those 吹水站 groups) and with the rather big market, renting a retail space isn’t necessary.
In fact, some of them didn’t even use C2C platforms like Shopee to sell their products. Heck, they might not even have a website.
After all, if you’d remember, Facebook live auctions (think: S-Hook Ah Lian) were popular in Malaysia before it spilled to Singapore.
One such shop is BMYTA . 北冥有獭.
The shop sells handmade keychains like this…
…and amazingly elaborate yet tiny collectables like this:
And no doubt that has brought the designer lots of fans, with many of the older designs being sold out.
But hey, it’s the new product line that has caught more people’s attention.
打包 Kopi Bag Keychain
Unless you don’t live in Singapore, you’ll be familiar with this.
Over in the Goody Feed office, the older folks would be carrying a pack of this everywhere despite the presence of a coffee machine, all simply out of habit.
And this would have come in handy if what they need is just to look at something familiar daily.
Yeah. Now this exists.
By the way, it’s not just kopi.
The amount of details is fascinating.
And given that it’s handmade, it doesn’t cost an arm or leg, too. One piece is at $6 before delivery; delivery to Singapore is at $7.33, so one piece would cost a total of $13.33.
Buy more and it’ll be cheaper. Here’s what the seller has written lest you can’t read it:
