As the Covid-19 pandemic has proven, it doesn’t care if you’re a bus driver or a celebrity, it’ll hit you hard all the same.
Also, as enterprising celebrities have shown, you don’t have to stay down when Covid-19 gives you an uppercut to your jaw.
And now, a new celebrity has joined the ranks of celebs who proved they have what it takes to survive.
Meet Darren Lim
Darren Lim and wife, Evelyn Tan, are familiar faces to Singaporeans who watch Mediacorp dramas.
Back in 2011, the couple hit the headlines again because they shifted the entire family to live on a boat full-time.
Evelyn home-schooled the children while they were living the marine life.
Well, the family has gotten off the marine life for a few years now, since 2015, because of PSLE.
Well, if you’ve always wondered how living on a boat is like, or you just love the idea of experiencing that freedom they had for a couple of hours, you can do so now.
Darren Lim, Who Used to Live in a Yacht, Now Offering Short Trips in His Yacht for a Fee
According to Lianhe Wanbao, which had a team accompany Lim on a 2-day-1-night cruise on board his yacht, Gracefully, he will be giving short trips on his yacht to anyone interested for a trip for a fee.
The boat can carry a maximum of 20 people, but due to Covid-19, the capacity has been capped at 10 pax to maintain social distancing.
The journey reportedly starts at 10am at ONE15 Marina Sentosa Cove.
You’ll ride gracefully all the way up north for six hours to the waters near Pulau Ubin and spend the night before returning to Sentosa the next day at 6pm.
Along the way, you’ll come across different sides of Singapore
Fishing kelongs
And even Lim’s favourite spots
You can even enjoy meals prepared by Lim himself
And before you say anything, the meals look really legit.
Of course, a yacht ride won’t be completed without a sunrise
Memorable Events
Lim also told the Chinese Daily about the most memorable event he had onboard his yacht.
The most dangerous experience was when he met up with a typhoon near Thailand.
He managed to get through the experience because “when you have your entire family on board, the only thing you can do is drive your way to safety”.
In the end, he and his assistant had to take turns fighting through 8 thunderstorms within 24 hours.
It wasn’t all bad, however, and he could remember meeting a bunch of curious and playful dolphins while sailing.
The weather at sunrise and sunset is also one to die for, cooling, refreshing and utterly comfortable.
All in all, if you’re cooped up in Singapore and you really want to take a short breather out of the country, this might just be the one for you.
