For most of us, going to school every day is a complete dread. Sitting through monotonous lessons back-to-back often resulted in scattered head bobs.
And during our school days, we often fantasized about becoming an adult and the working world. A world with no homework, uniforms and teachers to keep us in check.
For some teens, the opposite was true; getting any sort of job was not on the top of their priority list.
Mother slashed by daughter over job dispute
School is stressful and it’s a student’s right to relax during the holidays.
After all, it’s the only time they can truly relax without deadlines waiting for them.
However, some parents beg to differ and would rather their children spend their time wisely.
This was why 36-year-old Yan from Taiwan advised her daughter to take up a short-term job she secured for her during her summer break. To her surprise, things took an unexpected turn.
According to ET Today, the feisty 15-year-old didn’t take her mother’s advice too well, resulting in a big fight on 24 July, Wednesday, which eventually involved a watermelon knife.
Yan’s daughter was agitated to a point where anger got the better of her, and she slashed her mother a few times with the knife after a short chase towards a shop located 200 meters away from their apartment.
To put things into perspective, this is how a watermelon knife looks like:
Blood transfusion was required
As reported by World of Buzz, the shop owner struggled to separate the knife from Yan’s daughter before calling the police.
Yan was rushed to Tung’s Taichung Metro Harbor Hospital for an immediate operation as she lost a lot of blood and required a blood transfusion.
Reports revealed that she was sustained injuries in four areas: the neck, shoulder, elbow and hip, with the longest cut measuring 10cm.
What?!
Fortunately, Yan’s condition has stabilized. As for her daughter who showed no sign of emotion during the police questioning at the scene of the incident, the 15-year-old will reportedly be charged with attempted murder in juvenile court.
It’s a pity that a mother’s genuine care and concern unleashed a monster living alongside her all the past 15 years.
Here’s a simplified summary of the South Korea martial law that even a 5-year-old would understand:
