The first half of December, especially the past week, was filled with sudden showers and heavy rainfall.
You’ve probably heard about the terrible things that could be caused by it.
Just last weekend, a huge tree broke down and crushed several vehicles at a carpark in Toa Payoh.
Previous incidents of falling branches and trees happened in the past in Singapore because of the continuous heavy rain.
Well, if you’re sick and tired of a cold and wet December and you want it to resemble Singapore somewhat, with sunny beaches, hot afternoons and your favourite kopi peng, I’ve got good news for you. Somewhat.
2nd Half of December Isn’t Going to Rain as Often as the Last 2 Weeks
According to the folks at the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), people in Singapore can expect a brief respite from the almost daily downpour over the past two weeks.
It is expected that the amount of rainfall in the next two weeks will be below average.
They forecast that the north-easterly winds over the South China Sea and Singapore are going to weaken.
Nonetheless, we’re just getting less rain, not go through a complete dry spell.
Expect short-duration thundery showers in the afternoon on most days. On a few of these days, it may even extend into the evenings.
In addition, expect occasional showers on one or two days because of a brief strengthening of northerly winds.
It’s Going To Be Warmer Too
Live in Singapore for a year and you’ll already be able to forecast the temperature.
Rain = aircon temperatures. No rain = warm and humid days.
The daily temperature on most days is expected to range between 24°C and 33°C. On days with little or no rainfall, the temperature could reach 34°C too.
In other words, wear light but bring a jacket, and umbrella, out with you.
Forecast For The Next Four Days
With that being said, remember to bring an umbrella when you go out tomorrow because it seems like the next four days might follow the trend of the past two weeks.
According to weather experts, rain is expected for the days to come.
Expect afternoon thundery showers on the rest of the workweek and windy afternoon thundery showers on the weekend.
