Decathlon Opening a New Outlet in Clementi in May 2021

The pandemic has made us confront some rather uncomfortable truths:

  1. That without leisure travel and large parties, we mostly just binge-watch movies in our bed until we fall asleep
  2. That our loved ones are more annoying than we thought
  3. That we don’t exercise all that much

Back when the circuit breaker was in full force last year, residents could only go outside for essential reasons, such as to buy food or exercise.

Buying food and groceries was easy, as we could just order it online and have it delivered to our homes.

But exercise was something you couldn’t just add to a cart; you actually had to go outside and do it.

It exposed our laziness, and more importantly, our reluctance to part with our couch.

Well, if you’ve recently decided it’s time to get yourself out there and burn some calories, I have some good news for you.

Regular patrons of Clementi Mall have spotted a billboard on the third floor next to Soup Restaurant which says that the beloved sporting goods store will be opening a new outlet there in May.

Here’s an image shared by Facebook Page Singapore Atrium Sale:

According to the billboard, customers who want to avoid spending too much time at their stores can simply order it online and pick it up at the store within two hours.

Customers will not be charged for this “Click and Collect” feature.

It’s goody because the mall is connected to Clementi MRT Station.

Items on Offer

For the sad souls who have never visited Decathlon, allow me to introduce you to this sporting good paradise.

Decathlon is a French sporting goods retailer with over 1647 stores in nearly 1000 cities in 57 countries.

It is famed for its ridiculously low prices and good quality sportswear.

The store sells everything from shoes and backpacks to hammocks and skateboards.

And unlike the cheap sporting goods you purchase online, these items won’t break within a week.

At the moment, Decathlon has 12 stores across Singapore, located in:

  • Joo Koon
  • Sembawang
  • Holland Village
  • Novena
  • City Square
  • Orchard
  • Tiong Bahru
  • Chinatown
  • Singapore Lab
  • Bedok
  • Tampines
  • Punggol

Soon, their brand-new outlet at Clementi will be added to the list.

I’m just waiting for Decathlon to open a store in Toa Payoh so I won’t have to walk too far to get a new pair of running shoes.

Reader: But isn’t the whole point of getting sports sneakers to exercise?

Let’s worry about our own problems, dear reader.
