Modern Berry Korea (MBK) has officially announced the return of former DIA member Ahn Somyi to the K-pop industry, revealing her new profile pictures via the management’s official social media account on 26 Apr 2025 (KST).

The company introduced her as a “new artist” to their roster, telling TENASIA that “Somyi is an artist gaining attention for her steady growth and unique presence” and that she is “currently reviewing various content opportunities and activities.”
Somyi’s New Role as Producer for Upcoming Boy Group
One of Somyi’s major upcoming projects includes producing a new boy group tentatively named the “Earth Boys.”

According to MBK’s announcement earlier this month, “Somyi will be taking part in all aspects of the debut project for a new boy group, including music/performance production, concept planning, and visual directing.”
The group is scheduled to debut in 2028.
This marks a significant career shift for the former idol, who has experienced considerable turbulence in her professional journey.
Legal Battles and Career Transitions
Somyi’s return follows a complicated legal history.
In February 2024, she was imprisoned after receiving a 1-year 6-month sentence for falsely accusing her former management’s CEO of sexual assault.
She subsequently appealed the decision, and in June 2024, the court suspended her sentence from the first trial for 2 years with 160 hours of community service, leading to her release.
Prior to her imprisonment, Somyi had pivoted to a different career path, making her debut on a streaming platform where she produced racy “19+” mature content.
Her final broadcast on this platform was on 31 Jan 2023.

Legal Action
More recently, on 28 Mar 2025, MBK issued an official statement regarding legal action against YouTube channel HOVERLAB for defamation.
The statement firmly denied rumors that Somyi had dated CEO Kim Kwang Soo of PocketDol Studio, which were spread in a video titled “[Shocking Exclusive] DIA Members Fight Over One Man” released on 2 Mar 2024.
The company’s statement emphasized: “We will monitor various online and SNS platforms closely, and any future accounts of malicious activity directed against our artist will continue to be met with legal action.”
Somyi originally debuted as a member of DIA in 2017 before leaving the team in January 2022.
After her stint as an internet BJ, she has now signed an exclusive contract with Modern Berry Korea, signaling her comeback to the entertainment industry.
