Dog Locked In Car Puts Car In Reverse And Drives Around In Circles For One Hour

Dog: Ah, the human has finally made a mistake. Leaving me alone in your car? What did you think would happen? Anyway, I’m tired of taking selfies dressed as Brian Griffin and pretending to like it when humans scratch my belly. I don’t even know why humans started scratching our bellies. They’re so weird.

Dog: Alright, no more introspection. This is my chance. My one chance. It’s time to esca- *sees own tail* Hey, what’s that?

Dog Locked In Car Puts Car In Reverse And Drives Around In Circle For One Hour

When the owner of a black labrador in Florida made a wrong turn, she stepped out briefly, leaving her dog inside the car.

It was just for a minute, right? What could happen?

Something very, very weird, that’s what.

A few moments after stepping out, the dog, Max, accidentally put his owner’s car in reverse. She then started driving around in circles for one hour.

And unfortunately, this dog was a pretty reckless driver.

In addition to not checking its blind spots, the car hit a postbox and smashed into a rubbish bin as police tried to figure out how to open the car.

The owner of both the car and the dog gave police officers a car fob, which is a smart key that can remotely start or stop the car’s engine. Unfortunately, just like me on Monday mornings at work, the fob’s battery was ded.

You can watch the video of the dog driving around here.

Dog got out safe

Eventually, the officers at the scene managed to open the car by entering a code into a keypad on the driver’s side door.

And thankfully, no one was injured. The dog came out wagging his tail as happy as can be.

One of the neighbours, Anna Sabol, said she saw the car going round and round in her neighbourhood.

“I figured ‘how the heck did they manage to do that?’ Then I saw another cop car and another cop car”.

She also saw said that the dog exhibited some decent driving skills, unlike some humans out on the road.

“I laughed. I thought they should give that dog a licence to drive. He was a better driver than a lot of them I’ve seen.”

“He was doing pretty good until he hit the mailbox. He went around for about an hour without hitting anything at all”, she added.

Max’s owner has promised to replace the destroyed letterbox.

If you’re a dog, don’t drive

Here’s a PSA to out the dogs out there. I know that we humans tend to patronize you and make you feel like naive little babies, but that’s no reason to put your life at risk just to prove us wrong.

We all know you can drive, but let’s face it; unless you’re a Great Dane, you’re probably not even tall enough to reach the pedals. For now, please let us humans drive you guys around.

Too many lives have been lost to dog driving.
