Lest you’re unaware, an unfortunate fatal accident occurred yesterday afternoon, killing two and severely injuring four.
A 64-year-old Grab driver, who was not on his job then, had crashed through a pavement railing and landed on the exit lane of Lucky Plaza yesterday at about 5pm. Unfortunately, it hit six people, all of them domestic workers. They were then having a picnic beside the railing.
One of deceased and an injured victim are sisters.
If you’ve seen images of the aftermath, you’d have come across a crowd of people taking images of videos of the incident.
This afternoon, another video surfaced, and it’s not the aftermath of the incident.
CCTV Footage of Accident Leaked Online
About 24 hours after the tragic incident, someone decided that it’s a good idea to film the CCTV footages of the incident and even shared it online.
It’s a recording of a monitor that comprises four different CCTV angles, and it showed exactly what was reported: the car making a U-turn and suddenly accelerated towards the railing, hitting the victims before landing on exit lane of Lucky Plaza.
The Centre of Domestic Employees has urged the public not to circulate any images or videos of the accident, and reminded us not to speculate as investigations are ongoing.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Visited Victims
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan and SPS (Manpower) Low Yen Ling visited the victims in Tan Tock Seng Hospital today. He added that they are working closely with the Philippine Embassy in Singapore to help the families involved.
A crowdfunding effort by the Centre for Domestic Employees has also been set up for the “families of the two deceased FDWs, as well as the other FDWs who were injured in this accident.” The goal is $100,000.

As of time of writing, 29 people have donated with a total of $5,230.
And lest you’re worried that it’s not a legit donation drive, don’t worry; this link is shared by SPS (Manpower) Low Yen Ling as well.
So go ahead and donate if you can.
