Don’t Say Bojio: KFC Salted Egg Chicken for Just $0.50 Per Pc

Okay, I’ve got a confession to make: before Popeyes Cereal Chicken, KFC’s Goldspice Chicken, which I’ve fondly termed it as the Salted Egg Chicken since it’s coated with salted egg,  used to be my favourite chicken.

Of course that changed just a few days ago when Popeyes showed me that cereal and fried chicken can be BFF.

Popeyes Singapore has a new chicken since last month called the “Cereally Crispy Chicken”. While it’s merely Popeyes’ iconic chicken coated with zichar cereal, it’s one heck of a combination: the sweetness of the cereal complements the fried chicken perfectly. But there’s an unsung hero in the meal: the zingy chilli sauce that makes every single calorie of this meal worthwhile. Our colleague apparently dares to call it the best-est fried chicken so far. You’ve got to try it, man. Read more in our app. Link in bio. But the Cereal Chicken doesn’t come cheap—at least not as cheap as the KFC Salted Egg Chicken.

Because if you’ve got a DBS / POSB card (which I’m 95% sure you’d have it), you can get a piece of the second-best chicken for mere $0.50.

Yes, we’re talking about a piece of chicken, not a nugget or a tender.

Though there’s a catch: it’s only for delivery.

But I’m completely fine with it. Have you seen how “fast” the queues in KFC outlets move? #justsaying #itsmyopiniononly #butreallyveryslowleh

KFC Goldspice Chicken, a Comeback Chicken That I’m Loving It

Back in July, the KFC Goldspice Chicken landed on our shore, and I even said that they could be cooked by a Michelin-Starred chef—by the way, I was serious about it. Ever since then, I’ve made it a point to order it whenever I pass by a KFC outlet because I’m loving it and it’s finger licking good.

All of a sudden, it disappeared since it’s a limited-edition item.

But some executives in KFC heard my thoughts and so, it came back recently.

Lest you’ve not tried it, here’s what I’ve written in my previous review:

The skin is crispy and extremely salty, but in a way that’ll make you go for a second bite. The saltiness doesn’t taste like salt sprinkled on the skin (that would have been a magnificent fail seh), but the breadcrumbs that somehow blend in perfectly with the skin.

It’s so salty, I think it’ll go well with some rice, but surprisingly, it stands by itself well.

There’s a slight tingle of spice that complements the saltiness well, but maybe it’s the other way around. You see, if it can confuse me, it has won me over because I can’t really feel whether it’s salty with spices, or spices with saltiness: it’s just a blend made in heaven.

To enjoy the award-winning chicken (I just awarded it with a Goody Stamp of Approval), simply make your order via here.

After which, you’d have to add your DBS / POSB card number.

Now, if you haven’t tried KFC Delivery before, here’s my one-sentence review: It’s good and fast.

I’ve ordered quite a number of times and each time, the food arrived within thirty minutes. So go try it!
