I’m sure you’ve heard these expressions many times:

You’re perfect the way you are.

True beauty is found on the inside.

Never change for anyone else.

But then you see models in magazines with perfectly symmetrical faces and features and you think, Man, if only I looked like that.

Then a cosmetic surgeon comes along and tells you that he can do exactly that.

It’s tempting, isn’t it?

Well, this story might make you think twice about that.

Double Eyelid Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong: China Woman Unable To Close Her Eyes Properly

One woman in China was faced with a strange problem after she underwent double eyelid plastic surgery: she couldn’t close her eyes.

Some consider double eyelids attractive but not everyone has it. Thanks to cosmetic surgery though, you can get double eyelid surgery, where the skin around the eye is reshaped.

This is what the transformation is supposed to look like.

But, unfortunately for this Chinese woman, her surgery turned out like this:

She got her double eyelids, alright, but also the inability to close her eyes.

This also forced her to constantly wear an expression you’d usually see in Korean horror movies.

According to World of Buzz, the poor woman spent 13,000 yuan (~S$2,500) for the double eyelid surgery, but she wasn’t satisfied with it because her double eyelids weren’t prominent enough, so she asked for a second surgery.

The second one didn’t yield better results, and to make it worse, she was unable to close her eyes afterwards.

She demanded compensation from the clinic, but they explained that her condition is normal and that she will slowly recover, reported Oriental Daily.

However, her vision began to blur because she couldn’t close her eyes at all. If you don’t think it’s that bad, try not blinking for two minutes, and then multiply that discomfort by a thousand.

The hospital offered to perform a third surgery, but she refused. Probably because she didn’t want her eyes to be open for the rest of her life.

The doctor explained that the woman’s second operation was very close to the first, so the scars from both surgeries had stuck together.

Woman: Gee, thanks for telling me that after I paid you thousands of dollars!

However, the doctor added that this post-surgery effect is normal and that it will heal soon.

Woman: Gee, thanks for telling me that after I paid you thousands of dollars!

In the meantime, the woman has to sleep with her eyelids half-closed, looking like this:

After her ordeal, she was able to reach a settlement of 30,000 yuan (S$6,000) with the hospital.

But that begets the question: Why pay a settlement if her condition was… normal?
