In general, Chinese travellers are not well-received around the world due to their behaviour, the things they do and, well, the general destruction they wrought on their country of visit. The Chinese government has even instituted rules that, if broken, will ban the Chinese national from travelling overseas for a period of time.
A brief overview on netizens’ from both side of the straits
Tensions between China and Taiwan escalated after well-known Taiwanese entertainers such as Twice’s Chou Tzuyu are forced to apologise for not respecting the “one-China” policy. The last straw that broke the camel’s back was when Chinese director Zhao Wei dropped award-winning Taiwanese director-actor Leon Dai because he allegedly supported Taiwan Independence.

Both Taiwanese and Chinese netizens launched a salvo of satirical apologies across the straits, scathingly apologising for things that they have while the others don’t; from eating Japanese food to using iPhone, pitying the Taiwanese for having no brains and being so small.
Taiwan no longer among the top 10 destinations for Chinese travellers
It comes at no surprise that Taiwan, beautiful country that it is, is no longer among the top travel destination for Chinese travellers.
With no Chinese travellers, you can relax and enjoy the scenic views.
The tourism industry in Taiwan has taken a hit with at least a drop in 20% since June, according to Lai Chang-Yi, director of Taiwan’s General Chamber of Commerce, who commented that this will be hard for local business owners.
In 2015, a record 4.1 million tourists visited the island, contributing an estimated NT$230 billion ($7.1 billion) to the Taiwanese economy.
Locals, on the other hand, are extremely happy with the situation so far. So happy they made a parody of tourism ads which proudly welcome travellers to Taiwan, without Chinese!

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau has issued a statement saying that they do not support these ads and Mainland travellers are welcomed to travel to Taiwan anytime.
