The first thing they tell you in driving school is to always keep your eyes on the road.
The second thing they say is that if you end up in an accident, always stop and pull to the side of the road.
So, what happens if you don’t follow these rules? Well, this:
Driver Hit by Motorcyclist After His Car was ‘Flung’ to Another Lane by a Car on PIE
A driver was struck by a motorcyclist along the PIE shortly after getting hit by another car on the expressway.
Footage of the incident was posted to the Facebook group ROADS.sg on 16 Apr.
At the beginning of the video, several vehicles can be seen travelling along an expressway.
Then, at the 8-second mark, a black car suddenly emerges from the rightmost lane and is hurled to the other side of the road when another black car slams into its right side.
The driver of the black car manages to regain control of his vehicle and stops in the middle of the road, while the other driver speeds away.
But that wasn’t the end of the driver’s troubles.
Hit By Motorcyclist After Stopping His Car in the Middle of the Road
The video then cuts to a man in a black shirt, presumably the driver of the car which recorded the footage, attempting to help the driver of the black car involved in the accident.
The middle-aged driver seemed okay, as he was able to stand and converse with the other driver.
The man in the black shirt directs traffic to the other lanes, while they both presumably wait for help.
Then, a motorcycle suddenly comes speeding towards the two men, who are still standing in the middle of the road.
The man in the black shirt manages to get out of the way in time, but the middle-aged man isn’t so lucky; the motorcyclist sideswipes the man so hard that he’s thrown violently to the ground.
Middle-aged Man in Stable Condition in Hospital, Police Report Made
According to a commenter who claims to be the driver in the black shirt, the middle-aged man is now in the hospital and in stable condition.
He added that the rider is fine as well, and that a police report has been made.
The driver said he moved his vehicle to the road shoulder when he witnessed the first accident – the two black cars coming together – and advised the middle-aged driver to do the same.
Then, when the driver in the black shirt spotted the motorcyclist darting towards them, he tried to wave his hand to stop him, but it was too late and he caught the middle-aged man as he sped by.
This is yet another reminder to never take safety for granted on the road. Always keep your eyes on the road and move to the side if possible if you end up getting into an accident.
