Something spooky is happening in Singapore.
Most residents seem to be… abiding by Covid-19 regulations.
Infections are dwindling, and the coronavirus situation seems to be improving. Yes, after months and months of defiance, most Singaporeans seem to be obeying safe distancing rules.
Reader: But… how? I don’t understand.
I don’t either.
But that’s not the spookiest thing that has happened lately. There’s something else that will send shivers down your spine (only momentarily).
Car Without Driver Hit Truck in Toa Payoh HDB Car Park But It’s Not Due to Hungry Ghost Month
A video of a car without a driver rolling into a truck at an HDB car park in Toa Payoh has made the rounds on social media.
Uploaded to the Facebook page ROADS.sg, the video has been viewed over 41,000 times, spooking netizens all over the country.
At the beginning of the short 36-second video, a large truck at an HDB car park moves towards a row of empty lots, presumably so he can park, as he’s also switched his hazard light on.
The incident appears to have been recorded by the dashboard camera of a vehicle behind the truck.
As the truck steers to the left to park, a white car parked in a lot perpendicular to the truck suddenly glides forward, and moves slowly towards the truck.
The truck sees the white car approaching and jams on the brakes, but it is too late.
The white car has selected its victim, and nothing can stop it now.
Fortunately, even though the white car ends up hitting the truck, it seems like a tiny bump, one that is unlikely to cause any damage to the truck or injury to its driver.
“Did the driver fall asleep or something?”, you’ll probably ask. The accident wasn’t due to driver negligence, however, mostly because there was no driver in the moving car.
Handbrake Not Engaged
Some netizens believe this incident shows that the Hungry Ghost Month is well and truly upon us.
Others pointed out it was likely because the car’s handbrake was not engaged.
Most weren’t as convinced, though, and pointed out that the video isn’t clear enough to determine whether there was a driver in the car or not.
Either way, this isn’t exactly the driver-less car everyone was envisioning.
Please remember to keep your hand brakes engaged when you park your vehicles. If not, you might wake up to an angry truck driver and a costly repair bill.
