If you love speeding through the roads on your modified vehicle without care for others, or you like imagining yourself as an F1 driver when driving back home, it might not be a good idea for you to continue what you are doing from now on.
The Singapore Traffic Police has announced that they will deploy new speed laser cameras at 44 locations identified to be accident-prone and high-risk areas from Thursday, 19 May 2016.
The cameras have advanced features, and they are able to operate efficiently both in the day and night, identify both the front and back car plates, and it can detect speeds of incoming vehicles over a higher distance. Bad news for reckless drivers, but great news for us common mortals who walk on the road.
The cameras are also able to play video footage as well so don’t bother trying to appeal because this camera seems to be able to “seal the deal”, so to speak.
Having been in use since 2004, TP said that the cameras can help in curbing the situation in Singapore and the number of speed-related accidents has decreased by 12.2 percent. However, they believed more can be done as the number of speed-related fatal accidents has increased, from 43 to 48.
So drivers, check out the 44 locations that the TP will be deploying the new laser speed cameras to below:
And a final message we couldn’t resist leaving for reckless drivers out there: if you love to drive like a speed demon, it might be a good idea to stop because, well, there’s no point exchanging a lifetime of guilt for twenty minutes of euphoria, right?
