92 Nabbed in Drug Busts between April 4 & 9; Among them is a 15YO Girl

If you’ve watched shows like Breaking Bad or Narcos, you may have an impression of what a drug user looks like.

Based on these shows, they have to be old guys with hoarse voices and a cigarette in their mouth.

But the thing about drugs is that they’re illicit and not controlled by the government, which means anyone can get access to them, even a young teenager.

50-year-old Female Put Up Violent Struggle During Arrest

Two operations were carried out near Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on 4 and 5 April, leading to the arrest of the 92 suspects.

On the evening of 4 April, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the area and arrested a 50-year-old Singaporean woman and 49-year-old Singaporean man.

The woman, however, did not go down easily.

“The 50-year-old female put up a violent struggle to resist arrest and necessary force was used to subdue her,” CNB said.

Officers seized 7g of heroin, 1g of Ice, and various drug paraphernalia.

S$1.7M Worth of Drugs Seized Last Month; Largest Drug Haul in 14 Yrs

CNB officers regularly carry out operations to sniff out drug offenders, and on 18 March this year, they certainly found more than they were expecting.

The organisation had launched a two-day operation on 16 March and arrested three Singaporean men aged between 27 and 33 years for suspected drug offences.

They also found some drugs. A lot of drugs, actually.

In fact, the drugs seized was estimated to be worth around S$1.7 million. This was the largest drug haul since 2007.

The drugs found included:

  • 8.3kg of heroin
  • About 6.4kg of crystalline methamphetamine
  • 1,091 Ecstasy tablets
  • 1,000 Erimin-5 tablets

CNB said the drugs seized could have fed the habit of 10,000 drug abusers for an entire week.
