A drunken brawl in Little India led to two arrests after one man beat another up until the latter was bleeding.
The former then approached auxiliary police officers on patrol claiming he had been assaulted.
Both men were eventually arrested. Here’s what happened.
Fight Broke Out After Late-Night Argument
The incident happened near 48 Clive Street when two men got into an argument that escalated into a physical fight around 11:30 PM on Friday, 14 Mar 2025.
A witness told reporters that two or three auxiliary police officers were patrolling near the scene when a stumbling man approached them, claiming he had been beaten up.
“He smelled of alcohol. The auxiliary officers followed him to the scene and found that police and an ambulance had already arrived and were treating a man covered in blood,” the witness said.
According to witnesses, it was actually the man who sought help from the auxiliary officers who had fought with the injured person and left him bloodied.
“The injured man was sitting on a chair provided by a passerby, and some kind people were helping to stop his bleeding. I heard that the man who approached the auxiliary officers had hit the other person with a bottle. The victim’s head and clothes were covered in blood,” they added.
Passersby likely called the police. Eventually, the man who sought help admitted to fighting with the other person, and police subsequently arrested him.
The witness noted that fights happen regularly in the area, occurring every few months, mainly due to alcohol-related incidents.
When contacted, police confirmed the incident and stated that two men, aged 33 and 38, were arrested for fighting in public.
The 33-year-old man was taken to the hospital while conscious. Investigations are ongoing.
At Least 10 Police Officers Responded
When reporters from Shin Min Daily News visited the scene, witness Pravin (name transliterated from Mandarin), a 27-year-old truck driver, said he saw a blood-covered man being taken away by police.
Another food establishment employee revealed that he was cycling past the scene and saw at least 10 police officers present.
Four police cars were parked along the road, surrounding the area, making it difficult to see what was going on.
Reporters also observed that there were liquor stores and nightclubs near the incident location.
