The debate of who should pay on a date has raged ever since humans decided that they would first have to date before mating.

Forcing either party to pay seems unfair, which is why many of us choose to go dutch.
This way, you don’t have to pretend that bank employees don’t call you just to laugh at your bank balance.
Splitting expenses was what one Taiwanese couple opted for, which is why the girl was a little perplexed by her boyfriend’s request on one recent date.
BF Offered 2 Dumplings for GF & Then Demanded $0.75 for the Dumplings When the Bill Came
The girlfriend detailed the incident in a Facebook post on 25 Sep, on an anonymous Taiwanese confession page.
According to the post, the couple had gone to a dumpling restaurant for a meal.
The boyfriend ordered 15 dumplings, while the girl ordered curry potstickers.
At one point during the meal, the man asked her girlfriend if she’d like some of his dumplings.
This wasn’t a euphemism, of course. He really offered her some of the dumplings that he had ordered for his meal.
She agreed, and said she’d like two.
The story should have ended there, but then the bill came and something weird happened.
When they were paying for the meal at the cashier, the boyfriend asked the girl for an extra NT$16 (S$0.76) because she ate two of his dumplings.
“Um… okay,” the girlfriend responded, confused, and gave him NT$20 (S$0.95).
In her post, the girl said she was not “fussed” about paying more for the dumplings, but added that “deep in my heart it feels weird”.
After all, it was her boyfriend who had offered her the dumplings.
This would be like your boss giving you half a day off and taking it out of your salary later on.
Boss: Are you hinting at something?
Why are you charging us to use the bathroom?
Boss: Some bosses don’t even let their employees use the bathroom. Be thankful.
In any case, despite feeling initially shocked by her boyfriend’s actions, the woman later wondered if she was overthinking things.
“Dump Him”
Neitzens were equally appalled by the man’s actions, and insisted that the woman dump her boyfriend.
“Buy a packet of 100 frozen dumplings for him, then dump him,” one said.
“Eating dumplings is really the most efficient way to test your relationship,” said another.
If you’re going to offer someone dumplings, be it a guy, girl, or your pet dog, don’t make them pay for it.
And if you’re too stingy to let them have your dumplings without compensation, then please, don’t offer them at all.
