Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his family had tested positive for COVID-19.
Fortunately, they’ve recovered over the past three weeks and are now stronger than ever.
The 48-year-old Hollywood actor and professional wrestler had kept the condition private until earlier today (Sept 3).
He posted an Instagram video in an attempt to raise awareness on the necessity to care for your health in this day and age.
The most challenging and difficult things his family endured
Johnson and his wife Lauren Hashian have two daughters: five-year-old Jasmine Johnson, and two-year-old Tiana Gia Johnson.
They were infected with the deadly virus by “very close family friends”, who were unaware of carrying the virus.
Johnson stated that this was “the most challenging and difficult things (they) have ever had to endure as a family”.
The infection hit differently compared to the nasty injuries and other hardships Johnson had suffered through over the years because his priority has always been to protect his family and loved ones.
“I wish it was only me who tested positive,” he said.
Exercise caution
Johnson considered his family lucky to have emerged stronger and healthier.
Apparently, the silver lining is that children tend to exhibit little to no symptoms. The couple, however, had a “rough go”.
Johnson urges his followers to exercise caution when meeting up with friends or family. He opines that wearing a mask is the responsible thing to do now. On top of that, level up to more “aggressive” measures, like having everyone tested before inviting them over.
In addition, he attributes the family’s recovery to their general commitment to wellness. Johnson stresses the importance of boosting your immune system to minimize the risk of infection.
Fellow Hollywood actor affected by Covid-19
Johnson wasn’t the only celebrity to have had an encounter with the fearsome virus.
In fact, Johnson’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart was previously diagnosed with Covid-19 too.
The 41-year-old comedian revealed in a stand-up show recently that he contacted the virus in March.
Hart joked that he kept it hush as around the same time, the more famous Tom Hanks had announced his diagnosis with his wife, Rita Wilson.
63-year-old Hanks was in the high-risk group due to his age, as well as having diabetes and heart complications. Nevertheless, he managed to stay calm while in isolation with his wife in Australia, before eventually travelling back to the United States.
Having recovered, Hanks implores everyone to have a conscience when it comes to Covid-19. “Social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands. There is no human being with a conscience that can’t manage that if they want to.”
