25 electronic cigarette plastic cartridges were found scattered across the grass outside of Sengkang Green Primary School, causing alarm among parents and residents.
Discovery Causes Concern
A member of the public recently contacted STOMP to report finding numerous used electronic cigarette plastic cartridges outside Sengkang Green Primary School, expressing both shock and disappointment.
The person, who identified herself as a parent of a student of the primary school, stated she discovered this on the afternoon of 17 Apr 2025 outside the school gate and took photos.

When she passed by again on Monday, 28 Apr 2025, the plastic shells still hadn’t been cleaned up.
“I found at least 25 plastic cartridges that have been there for several weeks. This is not only illegal but also unhygienic, carelessly thrown in a place where many children pass through. It shows complete disregard for others!” she said.
She urged authorities to take swift action to keep the school surroundings clean and safe, to protect children’s health.
Current Situation
When a reporter from Shin Min Daily News visited on Tuesday, 29 Apr 2025, the area near the school’s side gate close to Block 445A Fernvale Road had over a dozen electronic cigarette plastic cartridges scattered on the grass.
Some had already sunk into the soil, while others were hidden in the grass.
Residents’ Reactions
Residents interviewed stated that electronic cigarettes are not only harmful to health but also pollute the environment.
Mr. Cai (name transliterated from Mandarin), 65, said people often gather below the apartment blocks late at night, and they might be responsible for the scattered electronic cigarette plastic cartridges.
“Smoking e-cigarettes is illegal and harmful to health. If children see this, they might get curious or imitate the behaviour, which isn’t good,” he said.

Nearby resident Ms. Lin (name transliterated from Mandarin), 71, pointed out: “Recently I’ve often seen people throwing things from upper floors, like tissues and other garbage. I don’t know if these cigarette cartridges were thrown down by residents upstairs.”
