Elderly Woman Fainted at Jurong Point Allegedly Due to Huawei $54 Phone

Lest you’ve been a good boy/girl and totally stayed off social media in an attempt to get things done, you would surely have heard of the whole Huawei fiasco, and how it has caused major furore across the entire island of Singapore.

Having marketed the Huawei Y6 Pro at a heavily discounted S$54, the promotion saw massive crowds turn up at Huawei stores islandwide across Singapore, each hoping to invest small and win big.

But things soon got complicated, however, when it turned out that there were too little stocks available. Nostrils flaring, verbal dissent soon issued throughout each of the outlets…

And one elderly lady actually fainted from the turmoil of it all.

Well, that’s a lot to go through for $54, that’s for sure.

Elderly Woman Fainted at Jurong Point Allegedly Due to Huawei $54 Phone

As the promotional offer was geared towards folks aged 50 and above, many of those waiting in line were naturally elderly folks.

But things soon turned sour, however, when it was revealed that there were too little stocks available to match the sheer number of patrons…

And this elderly lady proved to be the exemplification of it all.

In a video posted by a certain Ng Joke Keong on Huawei’s Facebook page, an elderly Chinese woman can be seen lying on her back on the floor, right outside Huawei’s Jurong Point Concept Store.

Seemingly in a daze, the Chinese lady is supported by a Muslim woman, who appeared to be fanning her.

The Muslim woman can also be heard saying to the surrounding onlookers to “give her some air”.

It might be the first, but judging from the scenes elsewhere, it might not be the last

Incidentally, it’s not just Huawei’s Jurong Point Concept outlet that’s facing such a crisis. Elsewhere, crowds have also formed at other Huawei outlets, and things don’t seem to be progressing any smoother there.

The Huawei store over at Causeway Point, for one, is facing its fair share of queues, alongside a very agitated crowd of middle-aged people who’ve surrounded Huawei staff members.

In fact, it has gotten to a point where the police have been activated to various Huawei stores.

No physical violence has been reported yet.

Huawei has since issued a notice on Facebook, discouraging anyone else from heading down to any of their 27 existing outlets.

The promotion was held in celebration of the upcoming NDP, though from the looks of it;

It probably didn’t go how they envisioned it to be.
