Put your Butterbeer down, Potterheads, because I have some news for you.
A mudblood might be dating a pureblood.
Instagram posts
Yesterday (20 Aug), Tom Felton shared this picture on his Instagram and everyone lost their minds.
The picture shows Felton teaching Emma Watson how to play the guitar with the caption “Quick learner x”.
Some fans quickly morphed into Sherlock Holmes and deduced that the couple was dating, citing a few clues.
Some mentioned that the light flooding the room seems to be that of the early to mid-morning hours, while everyone noticed how close together the pair sat in their pajamas.
Just 13 hours after that post, Felton uploaded this on Instagram:
The picture shows Felton sitting on a beach wearing a vest that said: “Women do it better”. But the significant part of the post is that he credited “EW” for the photo.
(EW stands for Emma Watson, of course.)
Fan reaction
Harry Potter fans obviously went berserk, shipping the two co-stars.
But have fans forgotten how profane their relationship would be in the Harry Potter world?
It would involve a Griffyindor dating a Slytherin. A mudblood and a pureblood. Harry’s best friend dating his worst enemy.
And, of course, we can’t forget the fact that this happened:
Most relationships don’t begin with a punch.
But then again, fans might be on to something, given how Watson felt about Felton when they were younger.
Crush
According to Insider, Watson previously acknowledged having a crush on Felton while they filmed the Harry Potter series.
In an interview with Jonathan Ross, she admitted that she had a “terrible crush” on her blonde co-star between the ages of 10 and 12.
“We love a bad guy and he was a few years older and he had a skateboard. And that just did it, really. He used to do tricks on it. He was so cool”, she said.
However, Felton didn’t feel the same way at the time, even though he was aware of Watson’s crush: “He totally knew [I had a crush]. And the thing is, he’d turn and go, ‘Oh, I see her in a younger sisterly way.’ And it just broke my heart, still does.”
So, are they really dating or are we reading too much into a couple of Instagram posts?
Of course, we’re not, DRAMIONE IS HAPPENING.
Maybe.
