Lest you’re still unaware, dining in will resume in group sizes of up to 2-pax from next Monday (21 June) onwards.
If you’re thrilled over the re-opening under Phase 3 (Heightened Alert), you’re probably not alone. We get it, catching up with your loved ones over a quick meal is always good to have.
But hold your horses though, let’s not let our guards down just yet.
After all, dining-in remains an activity with significant risks.
Stepped-up enforcement of Safe Management Measures at F&B Establishments and Hotspots
Agencies will be ramping up enforcement checks at certain premises in an attempt to kerb the transmission of COVID-19.
F&B establishments should have SMMs established before dine-in resumes. Operators that violate SMMs, including 1-metre safe distancing between groups of diners will face closures.
Yes, the Gahmen isn’t gonna “give chance” anymore.
So even if you’re a first-time offender, expect to be slapped with a S$300 fine. Higher fines or even prosecution in court will be issued to repeat offenders.
Don’t say we never warn hor.
3 pivoted nightlife companies must only conduct F&B operations. Activities conventionally associated with pubs, bars, nightclubs and karaoke lounges remain prohibited.
If forbidden activities are observed, agencies can permanently revoke offenders’ Food Shop, Public Entertainment of Liquor Licences from the first occurrence.
Safe Management Measures of F&B Establishments
Lest you’re still unaware, here are the list of course of actions to be adhered to.
- Maintain a safe distance of at least 1 metre among groups of diners
- Disallow group sizes larger than two persons — a group of more than two persons who are not from the same household, even if they are split across multiple tables;
- Prevent intermingling between groups;
- Prohibit selling or allowing the consumption of alcohol after 10.30pm;
- Restrain recorded music/sounds or screening of TV/videos;
- Bar singing (either staff or patrons) or live entertainment and games such as karaoke, billiards, and dice games.
61 Individuals Fined Over the Past Weekend
Over the past weekend, 61 individuals were issued fines for violating SMMs in parks. These include not wearing masks when not engaging in strenuous exercise, and gathering in groups exceeding the limit.
Agencies will strengthen enforcement presence at other identified hotspots. Such areas are sieved out through public feedback and ground observations.
These include parks, beaches, and common areas of HDB estates like basketball courts and pavilions.
“We are at a critical stage of our national fight against COVID-19, as we ramp up our vaccination programme,” MSE mentioned. “If we become complacent or negligent, we could well negate all the past efforts and sacrifices we have individually and collectively made.”
