Everything About the Multiple Explosions in BKK So Far

Bangkok might be many things: a popular tourist destination, cheap-cheap-good-good lifestyle, heavenly street food, etc. etc.

The list goes on and on.

Yet, even so, that’s not a place you’ll want to be at during the morning rush hour on Friday, 2 Aug 2019. Why?

Because of multiple small explosions around the area.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen; Bangkok has been ravaged by bombs…

And this article will tell you roughly everything about it so far.

Everything About the Multiple Explosions in BKK So Far

Today, Thailand’s Bangkok played unwilling host to a series of bombings.

At least three, to be exact, all in different locations.

The first explosion was heard at around 7:00 a.m., at the garden in front of the Government complex.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered damaged trees and a hole in the ground.

The bomb squad was reportedly called in, and the area is now cordoned off while Thai police check on the matter.

Second explosion

The second one, which transpired at the city centre, was reportedly heard shortly after, from the area in front of MahaNakorn tower at around 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

According to Khaosod, the explosion originated from an area under the stairs to the BTS station.

“Loud explosion heard near BTS Chong Nonsri at 8:36 a.m.”

“At 9:40 am, the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (bomb squad) is investigating the scene after the explosions at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, the Government Complex Chaengwattana.”

A car window was shattered in the whole commotion.

The third explosion occurred around 9:00 a.m. in the Rama 9 Soi 57/1, a suburban area in Bangkok.

In total, it’s reported that six bombs had exploded in the three locations, and four people were injured.

Yesterday (1 August 2019), Free Malaysia Today reported on the discovery of two fake bombs near the venue of the ASEAN foreign ministers meeting.

The actual explosions this morning were speculated to be linked to the bomb scares.

Apparently, Bangkok’s currently hosting several foreign ministers from ASEAN, as well as from China, Russia and the United States.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are attending the regional security forum.
