Some people are just not mean to be fathers, and Johnboy John Teo, a father of a 2-year-old girl, is one of them.

Yesterday, we were shocked with the breaking news that on Father’s Day (16 June 2019), a man had killed his daughter at the 11th storey of Block 163B at Rivervale Crescent.

Police were called in at 10:24 p.m., and when they reached the flat, a two-year-old girl was lying motionlessly in the bedroom while the suspect, the 34-year-old Teo, was found injured with her.

They were both taken to Sengkang General Hospital but the girl succumbed to her injuries two hours later at 12:28 a.m.

Teo was arrested immediately and the police have classified the case as murder.

Neighbours Claimed They Were “Well-Educated”

When The Straits Times visited the flat yesterday night, the flat has been locked by the police.

Neighbours claimed that Teo lived with his wife (which has allegedly soured; read on for more), and they seemed “well-educated” and “friendly”, and that the daughter was cute.

However, another neighour had claimed that he had heard loud wailing from a toddler a few times in the last month in the middle of the night, and suspected that it was from Teo’s unit.

NCS has confirmed with TODAYonline that Teo works for them, adding, “We can confirm that Mr JohnBoy John Teo is a staff at NCS Pte Ltd but are unable to comment further as investigations are on-going. We are reaching out to his family to see if we can render any help or support while also assisting authorities in their investigations.”

Allegedly Divorced

According to Shinmin Daily News, Teo is divorced from his ex-wife, and his ex-wife had gained custody of the girl in March this year. The ex-wife has since moved out last month.

Teo had visitation rights to the girl on Sunday so the girl had apparently been with Teo on Father’s Day.

On that fateful day, however, Teo did not return the girl that evening and so, his ex-wife and her family called the police.

It’s unknown why Teo had not returned the girl or why the matter wasn’t resolved before the murder occurred.

Lianhe Wanbao reported that Teo’s injuries were self-inflicted as he tried to kill himself by slashing his neck.

Today, Teo, who’s still in hospital, was charged with murdering his daughter.

His case has been adjourned to 9 July 2019.
