Do you always ignore the fire alarm when it goes off, because whenever you hear one, you’ll go, “Ah, false alarm la”?
If so, then you might want to rethink after reading this.
Tang Plaza Caught Fire
Yesterday (15 June 2019), at around 8:40 p.m., shoppers in Tang Plaza got a surprise.
Apparently, the fire alarm went off in the mall and that’s not all: the sprinklers were also activated, which means if you’re in the premises, you might have spent more effort saving your phone from the artificial rain than your life.
And as expected, people were busy taking videos and images of the mall.
200 People Evacuated; No One Injured
Thankfully, 200 people were evacuated not by the sound of fire alarm but by the security guards.
No one was injured as well.
And guess what put out the fire?
The sprinklers.
By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had been extinguished by the sprinklers.
Guess you can say that these unsung heroes finally got a nod from the public.
The fire was most probably caused by electricity wiring, and the mall is open now to public.
Fire in March Recently
The area seems to be prone to fire, as just two months ago, Grand Hyatt at Scotts Road also caught fire, and 500 people were evacuated. There were also no injuries, and the fire was from a restaurant.
Moral of the story here?
Don’t think that all fire alarms are fake. Thank the sprinklers because they’re unsung heroes when you need them.
And, erm, even when smoking is banned, fire will still occur #justsaying
