The phobia of clowns, or also known as coulrophobia, is extremely real and I have friends around me who has that phobia. They can’t look at any clowns without feeling scared of it. Isn’t is ironic, since clowns are meant to bring happiness to people and yet there are people who are so afraid of them?

So apparently, in the US people are dressing up as clowns and going around town terrorising people. Even If you don’t have coulrophobia, the way the clown costume looks on them are so horrifying you will run too. Some even have a butcher knife or chainsaw with them. Some even go to the extent of scaring young children.

Like all pranks, there will be unlucky pranksters whose prank will backfire. Cases of pranksters being beaten up rather badly by victims have since been documented online, and it’s nothing really surprising, isn’t it?

Prank is only funny when it’s harmless. Pulling such pranks only terrorises people – causing fear and anxiety. Police in the US has already issued a warning about the ‘killer clown craze’. This kind of pranks could lead to public order offences, arrest and a criminal record. A fine could be issued to the prankster or jail term if a weapon was carried.

With all this scaring, professional clowns are affected as well as the clown we are all familiar with – Ronald McDonald. According to CRIMESIDER, McDonald’s says Ronald McDonald is keeping a low profile with reports of creepy clown sightings on the rise. Professional clowns are upset as such pranks will affect how people see them from then on.

Luckily for us, there has been no reports of such clown scaring in Asia as of now. Please do think through your actions as not all pranks which seem funny to you, may not be for the other party receiving the scare. Yes, it’s Halloween season, but the seventh month is over!
