You wake up in the morning to jump into the shower. Once you’re done with your shower, the first thing you put on is not your clothes but instead talcum powder. We don’t see why not. Talcum powder makes one feel fresher as it absorbs moisture that may make us feel uncomfortable. The Johnson’s baby powder has been many people’s favourite brand of talcum powder since forever and the brand Johnson & Johnson is a trusted name for many years – providing a wide range of healthcare products. At least it was, until recently that is.
Recently, Johnson & Johnson has come under fire for not informing its users about the potential risks that their talcum powder has with regard to ovarian cancer. The company has been asked to pay $72 million as damages to the family of a woman who allegedly died from ovarian cancer because of the talcum powder.

This isn’t the first case that Johnson & Johnson has faced. Previously, it received threats of boycotting from customers after being their products are found to contain harmful ingredients.
These ingredients include formaldehyde and 1,4-Dioxane. Dioxane is said to be a compound that irritates the eyes and respiratory tract. It is also believed that the exposure to Dioxane will cause damage to your nervous system and kidneys. Formaldehyde on the other hand is said to be toxic to all animals even in the littlest amount.
A 1997 internal memo from a company medical consultant was found, stating that “anybody who denies” the risk of using hygienic talc and ovarian cancer is “denying the obvious in the face of all evidence to the contrary”.
Can you believe that these things were found in your trusted and handy healthcare products? There were also harmful ingredients found in one of their baby shampoos.
An expert says that the talcum powder could have entered the body when ladies apply talcum powder to their genitals, causing irritation in the ovaries. The irritation then causes an inflammation which is associated with ovarian cancer.
So ladies, if you’re still using the product, you might want to reconsider. There are, of course, other factors that might have resulted in ovarian cancer but better to be safe than sorry, right? Prevention is better than cure, people, unless you are willing to fall sick, then sue Johnson & Johnson.
Johnson & Johnson is appealing against the verdict, and if they were to lose this lawsuit, they might just lose the other 1,200 pending lawsuits as well.
Would you be jailed for being half-naked in public? Well, the answer will shock you. Seriously. Watch this to the end and you'll understand:
