There has been a recent saga over the only Tesla S car in Singapore. Here’s what you need to know!
Tesla is an electric car
An electric car with zero emissions, it is what Singapore needs as part of its initiative to keep green. It also has a smart driving system, which means it can autopilot. It steers automatically and you can command the drive. Cool AF.
Only one guy in SG owns it
That’s what this whole saga centers around. Joe Nguyen is the only one who has a Tesla. And he went through a lot of shit just to get the car here.
He had to go through a 7 months process
Seven months just to get the car into Singapore. it must have been pretty worth it. However, he was taxed $15 000 for his Tesla car. He had to settle a lot of paperwork just to be able to drive the car on SG’s roads.
Many people are not happy about his hardship
Yes, surprisingly. People find it unfair that he has to go through so much for a non-fuel efficient car. After all, there’s no harm in bringing in such a car. It’s good for the environment even!
One guy even informed Tesla’s CEO
Kind-hearted and probably irked Valdric Lim tweeted to Tesla’s CEO and got a reply from the CEO. The CEO said that they have spoken to PM Lee and will be investigating the matter.
PM Lee said he’ll be working on it
He recently visited Tesla in San Francisco and came back to this whole saga. Guess he’ll be working with Tesla to see how this issue can be settled.
People are hoping to get Tesla Cars into Singapore
Because it’s damn popular and energy efficient, so why not? We all need more of such cars even if it may be expensive. Better than having bad hazy air right?
