Alternative Travel Solutions

Have plans on a Sunday to travel beyond Pioneer? Don’t worry, you’re not left to your own devices.

SMRT will run Shuttle Bus Service 3 to facilitate transport into the area.

On 14, 21 and 28 Mar, and 4, 11 and 18 Apr 2021, the shuttle bus service will ply its trade from Boon Lay to Tuas Link.

The interval between buses is estimated to be between 5 and 15 minutes.

On 25 Apr, 2, 9, 16 and 23 May, there will be shuttle buses facilitating transport between Joo Koon and Tuas Link station.

The interval between these buses is estimated to be 10 to 20 minutes.

Make sure to plan your journey properly and give yourself enough buffer time.

Why Are They Doing This?

SMRT had earlier said that they’ll be starting works from 7 Mar but pushed it back a week to give commuters “time to prepare”.

LTA had said in Oct 2020 that its main contractor will replace 150km of power cables on the Tuas West extension, together with more than 100 circuit breaker components.

Some faulty parts had caused a major disruption on 14 Oct 2020.

According to the statement by SMRT, the full-day closure gives them more engineering hours to work with, which will speed up the works.

The cable replacement works is expected to be completed at the end of the year.
